The Life of MICHAEL JOSEPH SMITH
Michael Smith, 52, was born May 29, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Robert and Barbara Smith. He passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 23, 2014.
Michael was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar. Above all, Michael cherished his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lee Smith; daughters, Abby Jo (Matthew) Armstrong and Michelle (Eric) Carr; stepsons, Donnie (Jessica) Hamilton and Chet (Tasara) Hamilton; grandchildren, Linus, Betsy, Tyler, Lexi, Evan, and Trevor; mother, Barbara Smith; brother, William (Jessica) Smith; sisters, Debbie (Maurice) Webb, Lori (Randy) Gist, Lisa (Mark) Donahue, and Deana (Dallas) Hawkins; as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Hamilton''''s Near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Michael.
