The Life of Randy Paul Veron

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Randy Paul “Rock” Veron, 59, who passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 10:01 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Rock, a recent resident of Maurice, LA but a long-time resident of the Northside of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Oneil Veron, Jr. and the former Mary Rivette.
Rock was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the primary caregiver for his wife, whom he often referred to as his “Queen”, and whose love spanned for 45 years in all. He enjoyed spending time and affections with his grandchildren, to whom he would repeatedly say, “I loved you yesterday, I love you more today, but…I’ll love you even more tomorrow!”
Rock grew up behind the meat counters of the family business, “Veron’s” grocery store, which led to a career as a butcher/grocer for over 40 years. He thoroughly enjoyed interacting with his customers, to which his family gives great thanks.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty eight years, Scherry Hanes Veron; his daughters, Kristen Veron Lavergne and husband Brock, Ashley Veron Breaux and husband Heath; and his twins - son Seth Patrick Veron and daughter, Sarah Marie Veron; his nine grandchildren, Jacey, Hunter, Braxton, Beau, Hayden, Cooper, Haleigh, Grant, and McKinzie; two sisters, Patricia Veron Denais and husband Johnny and Cheryl “Sue” Veron; and one brother Oneil Veron, III and wife Joyce; his mother-in-law, Ethel “Greenie” Hanes; his sisters-in-law, Joddy Womack and husband Jim, Taffy Veron and husband John, Angie Boudreaux and husband L. J.; and one brother-in-law, Ty Hanes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Robert J. Hanes and a niece Melissa Veron.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Monday, April 14, 2014 from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Oneil Veron III, John Veron, Seth Veron, James Womack, Heath Breaux and Brock Lavergne. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ski Veron.
The family is especially grateful to their friends at Paradise Adult Day Care Center.
