The Life of Patricia Lundstrom

Patricia Curtis Lundstrom (nee Hannley) passed away March 26, 2014.

She was born in Akron to the late Francis and Martha Hannley on January 5, 1927 and lived most of her life here. Pat graduated from St. Vincent High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and an All American Swimmer. She volunteered for the American Red Cross teaching swimming, water safety and future Life Guard instructors. Her family moved to California in 1968. While there she was employed and retired from Rio Hondo College in Whittier. After her five sons were out of college, she moved back to Akron and married George "Bud" Lundstrom, who taught and coached at Central-Hower High School for 30 years. She and Bud traveled, laughed and both volunteered for many years at St. Bernard Church, in the "counting room" and in the sandwich kitchen. Pat loved reading books and was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, all of which she passed on to her sons. She was also a major supporter of the Police and Fire Departments due to having many uncles in the NYPD and NYFD. She was a Museum Founding Member of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Col. Vincent Hannley; her sisters, Martha Bertka, Dorothy Connell and Helen Adamson. She leaves behind, her husband, Bud; and her five sons, all of whom she was very proud, Dale (Elaine) Curtis of Hudson, Terry (Darla) Curtis of Springfield Twp., Michael (Patricia) Curtis of West Richland, Wash., Kevin (Debbie) Curtis of Cuyahoga Falls and Shawn (Susan) Curtis of Millersburg; grandchildren, Andrew (Kelsey), Ryan, Jackie, Ethan and Molly Curtis; many nieces and nephews, one of whom, Paul Adamson, lives in the Akron area. Her family wishes to thank Susan and all the staff at Bath Creek Estates and Sandy and the staff of Summa Hospice Services for their outstanding and compassionate care.

Remembrances may be made to St. Bernard''s Sandwich Program.
