Kenneth Utterson, 77, passed away on March 15th, 2014 of Legionnaires disease. Ken was welcomed back to his heavenly home on this day. Those who knew and loved him were truly blessed to have met him.

Ken was born on June 28th, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Dolores (Roth) Utterson. He graduated from Des Moines Tech High school. He followed his father''s footsteps and went in to the meat cutting business. He managed both Super Value and Dahls meat departments. He married Ada Phelps on August 3rd, 1958. They had four children. In 1962 they moved to Ankeny, Iowa where they raised their family. After retiring, Ken and Ada were able to enjoy their winters in Estero, Florida.

Ken was a happy person and was able to spread this happiness to others through his kind and helpful spirit. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed his time with family and friends. He was a great father and taught his children well by the faith and values that he modeled throughout his life. He was a loving and giving husband who always treated Ada with kindness and respect. He will forever be missed. We will forever be grateful to have had Ken in our lives.

Ken is survived by Ada, his wife of 55 years, his children Ken (Myra) Utterson of Hillman, MN, Vickie (Glen) Frick of Ankeny, Iowa and Chad (Kim) Utterson of Parker, Co, four granddaughters: Aryn, Emilee, Aleah and Avery. He has 3 great grandchildren. Ken is also survived by his sister Nancy (Vern) Faber of Des Moines, IA. Ken will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Ken was preceded into death by his parents, his sister Charlene, and his son Doug, who passed away in 1992.

A memorial service was held in Estero, FL on March 18th with all his winter friends. He loved his time spent here and always looked forward to seeing these friends each winter.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 29th at Our Ladies Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation with family will be held an hour before the service.

Ken had a passion for helping those in need. In lieu of flowers please give a helping hand or donation to someone in need.
