The Life of Bruno Kidder
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Bruno Kidder, age 84, who died on Monday, March 10, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette.
Entombment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery & Mausoleum in Lafayette.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Meagan Moseley and Natalie Kidder. Giftbearers will be Ani and Warner Domingue, Ainsley Etier and Sarah Moseley. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the service, "The Old Rugged Cross", "Ave Maria", " Pie Jesu", "J''irai la voir un Jour" and "Amazing Grace".
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Becky K. Domingue and her husband Danny, Nell K. Moseley and her husband Joe; one son, Chris Barry Kidder; seven grandchildren, Scott T. Domingue and his wife Crystal, Joseph F. Moseley III, Meagan Jean Moseley, Sarah Elizabeth Moseley, Barry Bruno Kidder and his wife Sarah, Natalie Louise Kidder, and Jeffrey James Kidder; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ani Elizabeth Domingue, John Warner Domingue and Ainsley Grace Etier. Mr. Kidder is also survived by 4 of his 10 siblings, Delta K. Gillard, Betty K. Quebedeaux, Jane K. Broussard, and Benjamin Glenn Kidder.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Isaure Guidry Kidder (in 2001), his parents, Raymond and Leah Hollier Kidder; six siblings, Wilbert "Bob" Kidder, Mildred K. Miller, Raymond Kidder, Harris Kidder, Lee Allen Kidder and Rose K. Duhon.
Bruno "Popsie" Kidder was born August 27, 1929 in Arnaudville, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for 62 years. After serving in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, Bruno began his career in the oilfield with Halliburton Oil Well Services in 1952. He was a loyal and dedicated employee, and cultivated lifelong friendships with many of his coworkers. He served as a Field Supervisor until his retirement in 1986, after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Whiskey Bay Hunting Club, and loved spending time at his camp on the Atchafalaya River, where his family and friends often gathered. He was an excellent storyteller, and shared many unforgettable stories about his childhood as well as his time at Halliburton. He also enjoyed woodworking, creating custom benches for each of his great grandchildren, and other family members and friends. He was very active in the lives of his grandchildren, and spent many hours on the sidelines and in the stands of their sporting events. Bruno was an avid fisherman who loved catching Sacalait. He found joy in sharing his love of fishing with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other friends and family members. He could often be found fishing the pylons of the Atchafalaya Basin, and in recent years, he spent much of his time fishing the waters of Toledo Bend Lake. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic community for over thirty years. Mr. Kidder was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Daniel J. Domingue, Scott T. Domingue, Joe F. Moseley, Joseph F. Moseley III, Barry Bruno Kidder, Jeffrey Kidder and Rick Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Floyd Courvelle, Glenn Kidder, Clay Broussard and Michael Gillard.
A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
The family would like to thank the 5th floor nurses and staff at Lafayette General Medical Center, and the extraordinary care of St. Joseph Hospice.
