The Life of LOIS ELLEN BLEWETT
Lois E. Blewett, 90, passed away from Alzheimer’s disease at Arbor Springs Care Facility on March 5, 2014. She was born May 6, 1923, in Garden Grove, Iowa, the daughter of A.O. and Bertha Bamgarner. Lois grew up on a farm in southern Iowa with a large hardworking farm family.
Lois was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Parson’s College in Fairfield, Iowa, and was actively involved in the communities where she taught. She retired from teaching at Iowa Valley Schools in Marengo, Iowa. Lois enjoyed teaching, tutoring, and mentoring elementary and remedial reading students, and was held in high esteem by her many students.
Lois is survived by her children, Pam (Gary) Salmon and Clint Blewett, as well as her granddaughter, Samantha Salmon. She was preceded in death by her six siblings, and her husband, Byron.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.
