The Life of KENT SHELTON ANDERSON
The family of Kent Anderson is sad to announce his passing March 3, 2014. Kent, 34, lost a courageous battle with leukemia at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.
Kent was born July 1, 1979, to Daniel Anderson (Claudia Richards) and Tammi Shelton Anderson (Bert Peterson) of West Des Moines. He was a graduate of Johnston High School and spent the last fourteen years living in Windsor Heights and working at Wal-Mart.
Kent had many interests and hobbies. An avid fan of WWE professional wrestling, Kent had the pleasure of meeting Bob Backlund, two time WWF champion, Jake (The Snake) Roberts, and was recently surprised by Dolph Ziggler who visited him in the hospital. Kent earned a brown belt in Taekwondo and loved singing with his karaoke friends. He loved spending time with his friends and touched the lives of many people from all walks of life.
Kent is survived by his parents; brother, Ross Anderson (Cara) and nephew, Oscar Anderson of Ankeny; grandparents, Oscar and Joan Shelton of Calamus, Iowa; his aunt Linda Hanson (Donn McLaughlin) of West Des Moines; his aunt Pat Shelton of Ft Myers, Florida; uncle, Hal Shelton (Andrea) of Calamus; and his cousins, Peter Hanson (Stephanie), Josh Jacobs (Kristi), Luke Shelton (Jessica), and Spud, his kitty and companion. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Don and DeLoris Anderson, and cousin Matthew Jacobs.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 8, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Private graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa, 3024 104th Street, Urbandale, IA 50322, and/or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 1615 SE 14th Street, Des Moines, IA 50320.
