Suzie Phipps was born in Des Moines, on May 6, 1966. She grew up in Des Moines and Indianola. She graduated from Indianola High School. She went on to attend Grand View University and Iowa State University. She also went to Marshalltown Community College and graduated with a degree as a surgical tech. In her life-time, she loved to serve the community by becoming a registered nurse and then social worker for the city of Des Moines. She also loved working for Red Cross. In the early 2000s, she became a stay at home mother. She enjoyed scrapbooking, writing, drawing, cooking, advocating, gardening (especially her favorite flowers, pink tulips), taking photos, and making others laugh but her greatest enjoyment was when she spent time with her husband, daughters, and cats. She was a fantastic and devoted wife and mother, touching the hearts of all who met her.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Phipps; daughters, Meredith Phipps (Michael Roby) and Maggie Quernemoen; parents, Dolores and Kenneth Hoover; sisters, Patty Shryock (Mark), Jody Weissenburger (Tom); brother, Brian Cox; nephews, friends, and cats. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Mabel and Ralph Terry, Helen and Tony Hoover, uncle, Richard Terry, and nephew, Rodney Bennett.

We want to give special appreciation to nurses Jen, Lindsey, Christy, Natalie, and Karen, techs Niki and Amber, and the many other nurses and techs on Younker 5 at Methodist Hospital for their service to making Suzie''s life better.

We ask that any donations go to the family through the funeral home.
