The Life of JOHN F SCHWENK

John F. Schwenk, 81, of Cumru Township, died peacefully of natural causes during the morning hours of Monday, January 16, 2017 in The Mifflin Center.

Born in Reading on May 28, 1935, he was a son of the late Francis A. and Victoria (Rozycki) Schwenk.

John was also predeceased by a sister, Rita (Schwenk) Rutkowski in 2008.

He is survived by his brothers: Francis V. Schwenk of Hershey; Richard J. Schwenk, and Phillip M. Schwenk,

husband of Debra Schwenk, both of Exeter Township. He is also survived by his sisters: M. Susan (Schwenk) Yapsuga, and Maria S. (Schwenk), wife of Jonathan Wesner, both of Exeter Township; and Elizabeth Ann (Schwenk), wife of Gregory Buss, of Harrisburg. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Karl Rutkowski of Runnemede, N.J.; and several

nieces and nephews.

John was an active parishioner of long standing at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Reading. He was also a Novitiate of the Franciscan Fathers in Pulaski, Wisconsin.

A gentle and caring man, John will be sadly missed by family, friends and loved ones.

He was employed for many years by the Permanent Sign Co., Reading, as a press operator, until retiring.

Relatives and friends may extend their sympathy and

respects to the Schwenk family on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 250 South Twelfth Street, Reading, PA 19602. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a,m.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.

It is suggested by the family that in lieu of flowers,

contributions be made in memory of John to St. Mary's RC Church Memorial Fund at the above address.

The Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home, Inc., Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
