The Reading Eagle reported in 1947, the body Army Air Corps Sgt. James W. Hoffa, was returned home to berks County. Sgt, Hoffa, along with Army Air Corps Cpl. Wilbur W. Kimbel, Marine Pvt. William Sleider, were killed during the war and were buried abroad. Their bodies were then disinterred and returned to Berks County to be buried close to home. According to the article, Sgt. Hoffa died when his plane crashed in China during a flight over the Himalayas. Sgt. Hoffa was buried in a cemetery in China prior to his return.
