The Life of SALVATORE S VOLPE

Salvatore S. Volpe, 85, of Spring

Township, died October 19, 2017, at Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Rose S. (Ninfo) Volpe; they were married on June 3, 1967. They were married for over 50 years and celebrated that milestone with a family party.

Born in Santo Stefano de Camastra, Sicily, Italy, he was a son of the late Nicola and Vincenza (Consentino) Volpe.

Salvatore served in the Bersaglieri, a corps within the Italian Army, also known as the Royal Italian Army.

In Italy, he worked on the family farm, and later in

construction in Milan. Upon immigrating to the U.S,

Salvatore worked at Talbot, Penn Optical, Garden State Tanning and Narrow Fabric. He also owned and operated his own Christmas Tree Farm, growing more than 6,000 trees.

He was happiest working outside with the land; He loved to spend time with family and friends, especially watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, soccer and the World Cup, and cherished his time with his family on vacation at Wildwood New Jersey and Disney World.

Salvatore took his final trip to Italy to see his brothers, sisters and extended family in September of 2016.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two

daughters, Vicky G. (Keith) Showalter, Shillington, and

Lucy (Gregg) Kramer, Sinking Spring.; and four

grandchildren: Kaitlyn Showalter, Marissa Kramer, Megan Showalter and Jared Kramer. There are five siblings: the late Antonino (Concetta) Volpe, Sebastiano (Roseatta) Volpe, Maria (Vincenzo) Aria, Graziella (Giuseppe) Mingari and Calogero Volpe. Many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews also survive him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Roman

Catholic Church, 2500 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday, October 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Contributions may be made to Parkinson's
